Review: Born to Be Legends by Hailey Turner

When I first heard about Born to Be Legends, I quite literally paused in my tracks, staring at my phone with a mixture of excitement and disbelief. Hailey Turner, one of my all-time favorite authors, was giving us a novella centered on Patrick and Jono from the Soulbound series, where they finally get to bask in the happiness they so richly deserve. As a devoted fan of the series—and a sucker for a good love story—I couldn’t wait to dive in, and let me tell you, it exceeded every expectation!

At its core, Born to Be Legends is about love, resilience, and the power of finding your place in the world. Patrick and Jono have each fought their own battles, both internal and external, and watching them come to a place of peace and fulfillment is nothing short of heartwarming. Hailey paints a beautiful picture of what it means to build a family and a future with the person you love. When Patrick thinks back on his younger self, believing he’d never find happiness, it struck a chord with me. His journey exemplifies how meaningful love can pave the way for growth and healing.

What I adored about this novella was its pacing. It unfolds like a warm, comforting hug, allowing you to savor each moment without feeling rushed. The writing style is lyrical and evocative; I found myself highlighting nearly every page. One particularly poignant moment that resonated with me was when Jono reflects on wanting "nothing more than to live a life not full of battles and heartache." This sentiment encapsulates the essence of the book: a desire for tranquility after chaos.

The interactions between the characters are delightful and authentic. The reappearance of Sage, the planner extraordinaire, added a layer of humor and warmth. It’s clear that without her, the pack would be a whirlwind of chaos! And let’s not forget Wade, the dragon! His delightful, snack-loving charm was a reminder of the joy in chaos, and his connection with Riordan was just as heartwarming as Patrick and Jono’s love story.

If you’re a fan of the Soulbound series, or even if you’re just looking for a sweet love story filled with depth and heart, you absolutely cannot miss this one. As the characters embark on a journey of love and commitment, the line “We’re married” carries such profound weight, capturing a lifetime of struggles and triumphs that culminate in deep happiness.

In conclusion, Born to Be Legends isn’t just a love story—it’s a celebration of life, love, and the beautiful mess we sometimes find ourselves in. Whether you’re familiar with the Soulbound universe or new to it, this novella is a treasure that beautifully illustrates the importance of finding your safe haven in a chaotic world. It left me feeling uplifted and hopeful, reminding me that happiness is a journey worth fighting for. Trust me; you’ll want to experience this one for yourself!
